Hotel Chocolat
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009Today was quite an odd/stressful one, but fortunately it ended with a little co-worker birthday celebration. There’s nothing like capping off a work day with a little office chips-guacamole-sangria action. After shamelessly eating about a pound of avocado goodness (like I said – stressful day), I walked home with two of my co-workers/friends. We passed a shop on Newbury Street that none of us had been in before – it was a new high-end chocolate shop called “Hotel Chocolat”.

Obviously as soon as I realized it was a chocolate store and not a hotel (yeahhh), it immediately popped into my head that today is National White Chocolate Day (please don’t ask me why I know that useless tidbit of info). Why not, I’ll celebrate National White Chocolate Day. Twist my arm why don’t you.
The shop seriously looked like it sold makeup – not chocolate. The packaging was so stylish and colorful, that it was hard to believe that it housed all different kinds of chocolate.

From orange dark chocolate “bark”, to raspberry prosecco truffles, to chocolate vintage buttons (each piece of candy was molded from an actual button from the 70s-80s), each type of candy was gourmet and unique.

The salespeople definitely didn’t like me creepily taking pictures (hence the blurriness of the quick action shot above), so we made our purchases and left. I ended up going with the Rocky Road, Dark Chocolate Hazelnut, and Caramellow White, hoping to save 2 of the treats for my mom and sister.

I tasted the Dark Chocolate Hazelnut flavor when I got home (like I said… National White Chocolate Day… any excuse people). It was amazing. The chocolate was so creamy, with the slight fruity taste that really good dark chocolate has. If you live in the area (or are simply visiting), you should definitely check out this store – even if just for the atmosphere (although, if you go in and are able to refrain from buying any chocolate – kudos to you).

I forgot to mention the best part… free samples… :)
